We are building this organization from the ground up because we strongly believe that healthcare in New Mexico needs a different model.
Health Care Delivery Model
IIn the United States, community health centers (CHCs), non-profit clinics, and federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) provide much of the care for uninsured and publicly insured patients. These organizations rely on federal subsidies to serve low-income individuals who lack insurance or whose coverage reimburses poorly. Yet the heavy burden of regulation and administrative requirements often prevents them from fulfilling their mission of delivering high-quality care to vulnerable populations. Disconnected from both the staff they employ and the communities they serve—and constrained by federal mandates that may have little to do with actual patient care—leadership teams are often unable to respond effectively to local needs.
As a new kind of healthcare nonprofit, we seek to remove these barriers. By minimizing unnecessary administrative constraints, we can design and adapt care through close, continuous communication with our staff and our patients—ensuring that the model truly reflects the community it is meant to serve.
Financial Model
Drawing on our combined experience building a Santa Fe–based nonprofit and cultivating strong relationships with local community organizations, we will rely primarily on support from local foundations, individual donors and community members committed to supporting our work. Because we aim to provide care for substance use, mental health, Hepatitis C, affirming transgender healthcare, and HIV, we will actively pursue grant funding dedicated to these areas.
We will offer free care to individuals who are uninsured—without imposing eligibility requirements or “qualification” criteria. Our commitment is simple: if someone needs care, they can receive it.
